What you can do
Everything from RAW decode to finished export, in the browser.
White balance, exposure, tone curves, HSL, masking, healing, presets, grain, and export — the tools that move a RAW file forward.
RAW ingest
Open camera files directly in the browser.
Decode RAW originals from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, OM System and Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax, and more — plus iPhone ProRAW and Pixel DNGs. Nothing is uploaded; the file stays on your machine.
- CR3, CR2, NEF, ARW, RAF, ORF, RW2, PEF, DNG, and 15 more.
- Full-quality demosaicing, including Fujifilm X-Trans sensors.
- A working preview in seconds, with full detail at 100% zoom.
Light and tone
Recover highlights and shape tone without halos.
Exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, whites, and blacks — built to protect edges, so horizons and subjects stay clean.
- Rebuilds color in partly blown highlights from the channels that did not clip.
- Highlights, shadows, and clarity that do not halo around high-contrast edges.
- Master + R/G/B tone curves, texture, and dehaze.
Color
HSL, split toning, and precise white balance.
Set neutral color with a click, then shape mood with the same color tools you know from desktop editors.
- Temperature and tint, with an eyedropper for any neutral.
- Hue, saturation, and luminance across 7 color bands.
- Split toning with independent highlight and shadow color.
Selective masking
Local adjustments with five mask types.
Linear gradient, radial gradient, luminosity range, color range, and brush masks — each with its own 12 adjustments, from exposure and temperature to clarity.
- Linear and radial gradients with draggable on-canvas handles.
- Select by brightness or color, and invert any mask.
- Brush painting with pressure, feather, flow, and erase.
Retouching
Remove dust spots and sensor specks.
Click a spot or drag along a streak. A clean source is picked for you, and you can move it. Heal blends the repair in; Clone copies exactly.
- Size, feather, and opacity for every repair.
- Backscatter finder (experimental): proposes specks in underwater shots for you to review.
- Every repair stays editable — nothing is baked into your file.
Finish and deliver
Presets, grain, crop, and full-resolution export.
Five built-in presets plus your own, film grain, crop to any of 10 ratios, and export at your camera’s full resolution or resized for sharing.
- Presets including Film Warm, High Contrast B&W, and Cinematic Teal.
- JPEG with quality control, PNG, or 8-bit TIFF; long-edge or percentage resize.
- If your graphics card cannot export at full size, it steps down and tells you.
Workflow
From camera file to finished image in three steps.
Open, edit, export. No import dialogs, no catalog setup, no waiting for cloud sync.
Open the RAW file
Drag and drop or click to open. The file is decoded on your computer and a working preview appears in seconds.
Shape the image
Work through white balance, tone, curves, HSL, and detail. Add masks for local adjustments and heal away dust or specks.
Export — or come back later
Export at full resolution or resized. Your edit saves in this browser as you work, so reopening the same file picks up where you left off.

Why photographers choose this
Desktop-grade RAW tools, without the install or the subscription.
Every adjustment runs on your graphics card, so the preview follows your slider as you drag — and your photos never leave your computer.
Zero friction
No install, no account, no subscription. Open the page, drop a file, start editing in a modern desktop browser, with touch support on tablets.
Real selective editing
Five mask types, each with its own exposure, color, and detail controls — plus invert, so you can adjust everything except your subject.
Your photos stay yours
Your photos are never uploaded or stored. Only your edit settings are kept in this browser, so you can pick up where you left off.
FAQ
Questions photographers ask before their first edit.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Decoding and every adjustment run on your own computer and graphics card. There is no server processing and no account. The only thing kept is your edit settings, in your own browser, so you can resume an edit later — you can clear them any time in Settings.
Which RAW formats are supported?
24 camera RAW formats: CR3, CR2, CRW, NEF, NRW, ARW, SR2, SRF, RAF, ORF, ORI, RW2, RWL, PEF, DNG, SRW, MRW, DCR, KDC, ERF, 3FR, MEF, IIQ, MOS. That covers Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, OM System and Olympus, Panasonic, Leica, Pentax, Samsung, Hasselblad, Phase One, and other DNG cameras, plus iPhone ProRAW and Pixel phone DNGs. JPEG, TIFF, and other non-RAW files cannot be opened.
Will I lose my edit if I close the tab?
No. Edits save automatically in this browser as you work. Open the same file again and the editor offers to restore your edit or start fresh. To move an edit to another computer, save it as a sidecar file.
Does it support masking and local adjustments?
Yes. Linear gradient, radial gradient, luminosity range, color range, and brush masks, each with 12 adjustments including exposure, contrast, temperature, clarity, and saturation. Any mask can be inverted.
Can it remove dust spots and backscatter?
Yes. The Heal tool removes dust spots and sensor specks: click a spot or drag along a streak, and a clean source is picked for you. For underwater photos, an experimental backscatter finder proposes specks across the frame; you review them and keep the ones you want healed.
Why does my RAW look flatter than the camera preview?
Your camera’s preview applies its own contrast and brightness curve. Raw Photo Editor starts from a neutral rendering that keeps highlight headroom, so a first edit usually begins with exposure and contrast — or a preset.
Can I save and reuse editing settings?
Yes. Save your adjustments as named presets in your browser, alongside 5 built-in presets. You can also save an edit as a sidecar file (.bre.json) and load it again later.
What export options are available?
JPEG with quality control, PNG, or 8-bit TIFF — at your camera’s full resolution, or resized by long edge or percentage. Exports do not carry camera metadata (EXIF) yet.
How does it compare to Lightroom?
Raw Photo Editor covers the core single-image workflow, including masking, healing, and presets. It does not have cataloging, lens corrections, AI masking, cloud sync, or batch processing. It is free, runs in the browser, and keeps your photos on your device.
What keyboard shortcuts are available?
Ctrl+O to open a file, Ctrl+Z to undo, Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y to redo (Cmd on Mac). F fits the view, 1 zooms to 100%, Space+drag pans. Hold B to peek at the original, \ toggles the before/after split, J shows clipping. M and H open the mask and heal tools, O toggles the mask overlay, [ and ] resize the brush, and Shift+1–0 jump between panels. Shortcuts can be turned off in Settings.
